Air Namibia in talks to acquire SuperJets

Air Namibia B737-800

Air Namibia is in talks with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft over the proposed acquisition of three SSJ 100-95s, reports ch-aviation.

The Russian manufacturer's senior vice president, Eugene Andrachnikov, told the Interfax news agency his firm was angling for a possible 2018 delivery date.

The deal may also include assistance in the areas of aircraft maintenance, pilot training, and infrastructural development, he said.

Should the Namibian state-owned carrier commit to an order, it will become the SuperJet's sub-Sahara African launch customer and operator.
